FEATURED

I have decided to organize and find sponsors for a clothes-drive in favor of children in a Daara in Senegal. As you know, a huge number of children in Senegalese Daaras barely have any decent clothes or shoes. I am therefore reaching out to everybody’s kindness and spirit of sharing in the name of Allah. Please be kind enough and donate gently used, clean and undamaged clothes and shoes. Your donation will make a big difference in the lives of needy children and adults in Senegal. I am convinced that being this far from our home, all of us want to make a difference in the lives of our own people. Let us take this chance, join hands and make this clothes drive a success. Thank you in advance for your positive deed and May God reward your every intention and bless your generous act. God bless us all.   Read More...

The three religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam are monotheistic religions and they share the same ancestor, Abraham. Islam came to Senegal from its northern neighbor countries just as it did to Mali, Niger, and Chad. Likewise within Senegal, northerners were first to be converted to Islam; among them were the Toucouleur and the Peulhs. The Peulhs used to be nomads and they spread all over the Sahel from Senegal to the Far East. The local populations living south of northern Senegal used to be animists or “Ceddo.” In the southern part of the country Christian missionaries were spreading Christianity in the Sine and lower to Casamance   Read More...

Read More...

The Mourides are members of a brotherhood whose constituency is the holy city of Touba. Most of them work in the informal sector where they become conspicuous due to their dynamism and entrepreneurship.
They are structured in different socio-professional and cultural associations, mainly in what they call Dahiras. Is this a casual or a coherent approach inspired by the teachings, the philosophy of work and the efforts left by their spiritual guide? It’s hard to tell. In any case, one thing stands out clearly: today wherever you go in Senegal and at the head of most famous capitals we find mourides.
It is worth mentioning that mouride disciples have become the pioneers of the informal sector which they rule, mainly by trading. As a result, they have taken the place of Lebanon-Syrians who had monopolized that sector ever since the colonial period. They managed to do so while challenging the established rules and in adopting a thorough sense of business as well. Indeed, this was done in the interest of Senegal, because they have, by the way, fostered a national capital, which today has much greater ambitions than just dealing out commodities.

Mohamed Al-Bashir, his true name, is regarded as the biographer of Serigne Touba. He is in fact the author of a book entitled "Minanoul-Bakhil-Khadim" (The Benefits of the Lord).
He was the son of Serigne Touba who spent much more time with the sheikh than any other son. It was Serigne Touba himself who took care of his education contrarily to the custom at that time that consisted to send children far from the family concession, to complete their spiritual education. That gave Serigne Bassirou the opportunity to stay with Serigne Touba and as such provided us with this treasure that is "Minanoul-Bakhil-Khadim"
