The organizing committee (Kurel) of the Anniversary/Magal has chosen to honor, in this year’s celebration, our beloved godfather, Samaritan, and friend, the one and only late Serigne Modou Boussou Dieng son of Cheikh Mouhammadoul Fadilou Mbacke (the second caliph).

Your Lord revealed to the bees: "Build dwellings in the mountains and the trees, and also in the structures which men erect. Then eat from every kind of fruit and travel the paths of your Lord, which have been made easy for you to follow." From inside them comes a drink of varying colours, containing healing for mankind. There is certainly a Sign in that for people who reflect. (Qur'an, 16:69)

Honey is a "healing for men" as stated in the verses above. Nowadays, apiculture and bee products have opened a new branch of research in scientifically advanced parts of the world. Other benefits of honey may be described as below:

Easily digested: Because sugar molecules in honey can convert into other sugars (e.g. fructose to glucose), honey is easily digested by the most sensitive stomachs, despite its high acid content. It helps kidneys and intestines to function better.

The term "QASSIDA" does not originally come from Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba. Indeed, it takes its origins from one of the components of the Arabic literature known as “Aruud” (prose and versification).
By abuse of language and the influence of “Murid street jargons,” most of us use the terms “Qassida” and “Qassa’id” wrongfully, one in place of the other. Qassida refers to a single prose (singular), while Qassa’id means many Qassidas (plural).
Furthermore, we speak of "mufrad" when it comes to a single poem; "Musannaa,” referring to two poems; and "Jam'u" for several poems. As a matter of fact, a "Jam'u" can also be translated as a collection of poems.
Like any other learned literature, the classification of these terms is subject to a defined metrology. For instance, a complete “Qassida" is said to be composed of at least 7 verses, otherwise anything less than that would be considered just “Abyaat” (plural of “Beyit”).

Serigne Mourtada was an aristocrat of mouridism and of knowledge. He was an ambassador of Islam and of the mouride community who dedicated his lifetime to the wave of divine Truth and faith. He was a modern man despite his Sufi life and was truly universalist as well. Serigne Mourtada Mbacké, who departed this life in Morocco and who is resting in Touba, was unanimously known as someone who, throughout his work and his social life, was dedicated to the spread of Islam and the teachings of his father the World over.

Strange complicity between a destiny and an end! A destiny of a propagator of mouridism abroad. The end of a life far away from his homeland. But this may not be a strange complicity for a man who had a Universalist posture. On Friday, August 6, 2004 in Morocco, the diplomat, the incomparable mouride disciple, has been dormant after more than 83 years of a life full of devotion, fascinating as it was, so sublime, all dedicated to God, to his Prophet Mohammed (Peace be with him) and his illustrious father, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba.
