On July 23rd 2003, the City of Los Angeles signed a bill enacting a Day to honor one of the greatest personality in mankind history, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba. The City of Los Angeles followed the steps of other big cities in the East Coast such as Washington D.C. , New York, Atlanta (Georgia), Detroit (Michigan), just to mention but a few. This event has been growing tremendously over the years and is celebrated worldwide from Canada to South Africa, Spain, Italy, France, and etc.
Under the chairmanship of Serigne Mame Mor Mbacke, the Ambassador of the Muridiya and co-initiator of the CAB Days in the Diaspora, the Alazhartouba team is cordially inviting you to their fifth annual celebration of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Day in the West Coast on Wednesday July 23rd, 2008.
Known also as Khadimou Rassoul (Servant of the Prophet), Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba was a religious and spiritual leader who led a pacific struggle against French colonialism. His teachings emphasized the virtues of pacifism and the importance of hard work. Every year, millions of Muslims from all over the world make a pilgrimage to TOUBA (Senegal) worshipping God at the mosque and honoring Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba.
This year, the DAY is named after our beloved late Cheikh Saliou Mbacke (who recently returned to Allah) and dedicated to our sisters and brothers from the United States. Note: The date is Wednesday July 23 rd 2008 at the Regency West 3339 W. 43rd St. Los Angeles, CA 90008. Please note that it’s very important that we all come together in order to make it happen. The day is for all of us and we should all act accordingly. Thank you very much in advance and may GOD bless us all.
